NAPTA’s PDS® is all about delivering value to NAPTA and its shareholders. The early identification and understanding of value drivers - i.e. how value will be generated by a project prospect - is very important.
Understanding the value drivers (and related upside and downside risks) of the opportunity is critical in shaping the appropriate approach to maturing the opportunity. It will determine the composition of the Decision Review Committee (DRC) and the opportunity team, involvement of functional experts, stakeholders’ management, planning and control activities.

Upstream Wells & Projects Development
The value drivers help the Business Executive (BE), Business Manager (BM) and opportunity/project team to focus on those areas that matter most to ensure successful delivery of the opportunity and the capture of expected benefits/value. Clear value drivers can also help speed up decision making where explicit trade-offs between alternatives need to be made, for example when making the concept selection decision.
In the NAPTA’s PDS® the BE and BM must constantly focus on value, i.e. the creation, retention and (wherever possible) enhancement of value delivered to NAPTA and its shareholders throughout the lifetime of an opportunity and subsequent operation by asking:
- What value will be delivered to NAPTA and its shareholders?
- Why is NAPTA doing this?
- What is the value impact of our decisions?
- What do we need to do to maximise value delivery?
With NAPTA’s PDP®, we are able to maximise the value creation and effectively manage where, when, what and how the opportunity and project team need to do more work in order to avoiding the value erosion though the project life cycle.
