The outcome of the Constructability assessment and review(s) provides key input to project execution strategies and plan(s), contract and procurement strategies and plan(s), and specific design requirements and project specification.
Construction Engineering/Management concerns the planning and management of the construction of structures, enhance the design in consideration of layouts and Constructability and ensure quality construction process. Construction Management requires knowledge of engineering and management principles, business procedures, economics and human behaviour.
Construction Engineering/Management entails the quality assurance and quality control of the construction process, site selection, site surveys, cost estimating, planning and scheduling, construction safety engineering, materials procurement, and cost engineering and budgeting.
The NAPTA’s Construction Manager or Construction Management Function in the Owners team requires principal knowledge and understanding of construction engineering techniques and processes. Detailed construction engineering related activities are executed by specialized contractors such as EPC contractors, fabrication yards and maritime contractors in the case of offshore projects.
